The men are engaged in weaving the Stole but the women prepare the warp thread. The yarns are first starched with wheat flour and wild onions to give it the right strength and durability. The threads are then combed to give them a coarse finish and this adds to the beauty of the Stole. The women rhythmically move their hands on the wand over the wooden frame called chautka. The process is tedious and thereby the end result is truly worth the effort.
