Printing Technique

Derived from Indigofera tinctoria plant Indigo is the most exquisite and luxurious of all natural colours worldwide. Indigo dyeing is an ancient process and it is 100% natural and organic.

Dabu or Daboo is an ancient Rajasthani mud-resist technique employed for more than 1300 years in India. Dabu is derived from the word ‘dabaana’ meaning to press. Dabu printing is a traditional printing technique from Rajasthan, India. In this process, a paste made of mud, gum and lime is applied on the fabric in a desired pattern using hand-carved wooden blocks. The fabric is then dyed in indigo, which penetrates the parts of the fabric not covered by the mud paste, resulting in a resist-dyed pattern. Dabu block print is a labor-intensive craft that includes multiple stages of washing and printing.
