Maheshwar, one of India’s ancient temple towns, reached its cultural zenith under Devi Ahilyabai Holkar. This place is enchanting and serene. Maheshwar is globally known for its MAHESHWARI SAREES made of Cotton or Silk. The town has become synonymous with the WEAVE. It was Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar who inspired the weavers to replicate the intricate designs of the fort on fabric and in doing so she gave origin to the unique and widely celebrated Maheshwari silk saree. Maheshwari saree is pure silk and cotton fabric is woven with brocade or zari designs that are lightweight with a glossy finish. Most of these designs have checks, floral borders, and stripes. Maheshwari silk sarees were first produced in Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh in the 18th Century. Maheshwari silk sarees are filled with character and beauty to accentuate your look for office ethnic days, family get-togethers, festivities, and day events at weddings.
